Course Introduction
It is an oceanic hole and one of the most photographed holes in the world. The course's signature hole is the ocean-facing 15th par 3 and also hosted the PGA Senior Tour Skins Match from 1990 to 2000.
The South Course, located on the south side of the Mauna Lani Resort, was designed using the remains of a new lava flow, and with its contrasting green grass, turquoise sea and black lava, it has been described as the most beautiful golf course in the world. In the winter months, if you're lucky, you can see whales on the course. The greens are mostly flat, but there is a slight slope before the ball reaches the flagstick, making it difficult to control the speed of the ball. If you are a golfer visiting the Big Island, the Monalani course is a must-see.
