Course Introduction
Located in the affluent town of Tuckertown on the north-eastern tip of Bermuda, this is one of the finest golf courses in the world. The course opened in 1924 alongside the Atlantic Ocean.
The Atlantic Ocean was not a major player in Mid Ocean's design, simply providing a beautiful backdrop for many of the holes, most of which are located a little further inland, surrounded by majestic pines, beautiful wooded clearings and treacherous valleys.
In the 1950s, Robert Trent Jones slightly remodelled the course, adding new tees and bunkers. The layout today is a tough test, especially when the trade winds pick up, but with a wide choice of tees it is also a very interesting course for the nearly golfer. Perhaps Mid Ocean's most famous and dangerous hole is a Cape template, the 433-yard par-4 5th, whose elevated tees sit atop a hill and offer magnificent views of the sparkling mangrove lagoon.
