Course Introduction
The European Club is situated in the garden of Ireland, between the coastal towns of Wicklow and Arklow, about 30 miles south of Dublin. It's a great place to play golf, with huge sand dunes providing excellent definition and the Irish Sea as its backdrop, and the 18-hole layout stretches to over 7,000 yards with a par of 71.
The 7th (par 1) is a 470-yard par 4, one of the best 100 holes in the world, set on a sandbar through a bed of reeds. A creek runs along the right side and behind it are 100 acres of unspoilt land with no buildings in sight. To the left are towering sand dunes, reed-filled marshes and more dunes by the green. Brittas Bay glistens behind the green. Four bunkers on the left of the 13th hole and the Irish Sea on the right fully protect this very long 596-yard par five. The 14th is a striking par 3 measuring 165 yards with a plateau green sheltered by huge sand dunes. This is definitely a golf course worth visiting.
