Course Introduction
The Mekong Golf Club (formerly Laos International Golf Club) opened in 2012 and is located approximately 12 km northwest of Vientiane Wattay Airport, next to the Tadmon Waterfall. The club is well developed, with wide fairways and few water hazards, providing a pleasant playing experience for golfers. Bunkers are the main hazard at the Mekong Golf Resort, and one bunker in particular stands out, similar to the 6th hole at the Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, with a bunker in the middle.
Some fairways narrow a bit in landing areas, and most fairways are lined with natural vegetation and hundreds of native trees. Bunkers are everywhere, protecting the greens and key locations of some landing areas. With the careful care and professional guidance of the greens keepers, the grass is lush and the condition of the tees and greens is consistent with that of more expensive and upscale resorts in California, such as La Quinta.
