Woodlands Golf Club

Woodlands is a typical first class championship course with relatively small greens and tees. As a course in its class, it has hosted many professional events and many state and national championships. Combined with pristine bench fairways, firm bentgrass greens, excellent bunkering and dramatic tree lines, it is a true test of golf. 

The clubhouse is located at the southernmost end of the site and the front nine generally follows an anti-clockwise course through native bush, returning to the clubhouse on the ninth hole. The back nine rotates generally in a clockwise direction from the tenth hole.

Players will experience the par-4 4th hole, which is considered one of the best short par-4s in Australia. Tee placement is critical to have the opportunity to attack this narrow green. The green is reachable, but any shot to the left or right at flag height will make it almost impossible to get the ball up and down. The ideal position on the tee is short right in order to pitch the ball short into a green that is protected by steep slopes on both sides.

Equally impressive, the par-5 15th has been rated by Tom Doak as one of the best par-5s in the world. From the back tees the hole is very difficult to play, but a par on this hole is a good score as it is full of hazards from tee to green. A formidable set of horizontal bunkers span the fairway and lie approximately 100 metres from the green, beyond which is an elevated green protected by deep greenside bunkers to the left and steep slopes to the right and behind.
