Course Introduction
Royal Queensland Golf Club is Queensland's premier golf club and one of Australia's finest, boasting the state's number one ranked golf course and a reputation for providing exceptional service to its members and their guests. The club was established in Hamilton in 1920 and received a Royal Charter from King George V in 1921, with the King's official notification signed by Winston Churchill.
This prestigious golf course, spacious practice facilities and superb catering provide the ideal environment for golfers to enjoy their golf whilst forging new friendships through wonderful camaraderie.
The course is difficult to hit from the bunkers, especially around the greens, and bunkers are an important part of golf course defence. Players don't always have the perfect lie or the perfect ‘fair’ shot. Some people think this is unreasonable, but bunkers are an obstacle that should be randomly penalised. Occasional difficult shots give the better players a chance to demonstrate skills that others have not yet mastered. They also give players who have not yet mastered those skills a chance to add another dimension to their game.
