Course Introduction
One of Australia's most influential golf clubs was founded in 1897 at the home of Dr Charles Adam Patrick in Marrickville, where a group of ‘golf fanatics’ gathered. Now, more than a century later, it is a club with many traditions, the third oldest in Sydney and unique for its presence in three different locations.
The ridge between the practice fairway and the right edge of the 14th hole's fairway was inspired by the daunting tee shot of the Hoylake tee box. The undulating and largely blind 13th green is modelled on the 17th green at Kingston Heath. The ‘horseshoe’ green at the 14th replicates Riviera's 1st green and Mackenzie's original 9th green at Augusta.
On the new 10th hole, players can hit the ball more easily from the top of the hill. Although the shot is longer, they can see more of the green from there and the lie is flatter. The 18th hole is easier to hit from the left than from the right. A shot from the elevated right side of the forked fairway would be the best option.
