Course Introduction
Brookwater Golf Course is built on rolling land, carved out of native eucalyptus forest. Some of the more enthusiastic critics call it the Augusta National Golf Course of Queensland. Even if it doesn't have the beauty of dogwoods and rhododendrons in full bloom as in the southern United States, the eucalyptus trees that hug the fairways certainly create a unique atmosphere, especially on the first few holes, where there is no sign of any residential development in sight.
The design is excellent. The holes meet the ground comfortably without any overly stiffness. The course is divided into two nine-hole loops, with the front nine going anti-clockwise and the back nine clockwise. No two fairways run parallel to each other and there are eucalyptus trees everywhere, giving you a feeling of isolation.
