Course Introduction
The Grange Golf Club is situated in the southern part of West Lakes, an area that was once a huge sandy swamp before it was reclaimed and developed as a suburb of Adelaide. The West Course measures 6,840 yards from the back markers, making full use of the length of the course. The course begins with relatively easy par 5s and finishes with four challenging par 4s. There are some delightful, tree-lined holes in the middle of the course where golfers can play on beautiful, traditional parkland fairways.
The opening hole is a short par five that is easily reachable in two for long hitters, but the green is set up to reward players who tee off along the right side of the wide fairway and close to the sandy moorland that fringes the hole. Those par 3's will find it much easier to pitch from the right edge of the fairway, and shots from the left half of the fairway over the front right bunker are probably best avoided early in the round.
