Course Introduction
Home to Golf Australia, the Australian Professional Golf Association, Golf Victoria and the National High Performance Centre, the course also features a driving range with 30 positions equipped with Top Tracer technology, short game areas and a huge ‘Himalayan style’ green. The course is adjacent to the Royal Melbourne Course and features some of the famous undulating sand terrain, giving it a typical sand-belt feel, with tea trees, ferns and rubber trees surrounding the holes.
Typical sand belt bunkers and hard raised greens characterise the course, although water comes into play on a few holes.
The hole is the 305 metre dogleg right par 4 6th, aptly named ‘The Temptation’. A huge bunker runs down the right side, inside the dogleg, and a simple pitch to the green is all that's needed for a real birdie chance if you take the right line. The visually stunning downhill 12th hole is called ‘The High Tee’. The distance from the tee to the green is about 155 metres, which is not too steep, but provides an unobstructed view of the landscape ahead. The left side of the wide, undulating green is filled with bunkers - four in all of varying sizes - and a tee shot to the right is likely to hit a lone bunker that cuts deep into the surface of the green.
