Course Introduction
Located in the heart of Melbourne, it is the second oldest golf club in Victoria. Sit back and enjoy the course's relaxed hospitality, delicious food and wine, and take in the picturesque views of the lush green fairways, beautiful northern and southern hemisphere trees and distant lakes.
The Riversdale Cup is Australia's second oldest amateur competition, founded by the club in 1896. It is one of Australia's most prestigious tournaments, with notable recent winners including Robert Allenby in the 1990/91 season and Aaron Baddeley in the 1999 season.
A round starts in an unusual way, with two par 3s on the first three holes. The sixth and seventh holes will be back-to-back par fives, preceded by the toughest hole in the outward half, a 430-yard par four that requires a blind tee shot, a narrow fairway and bunkers on the left. The back nine begins with a short par four with water protecting the fairway on three sides. The round concludes with a golfer-testing dogleg par four, where the fairway curves left to the green and is flanked by dangerous-looking bunker complexes on both sides of the fairway.
