Course Introduction
Established in 1905, the Club is one of the few golf clubs still in its original location to have been granted a royal prefix in 1930.
The Club applied for the Royal title in 1929 and received the support of the Governor and Premier. King George V agreed to the request in a letter dated 9 May 1930, granting the Club the Royal title, meaning it became the first club in the state and the fourth in Australia to be granted a Royal title by the British monarch.
More recently, the Club was forced to cede land on its western side to a nine-hole public development in the late 1960s, resulting in the loss of both the original 16th and 17th holes. Tommy Howard and Sloane Morpeth were brought in to reconfigure the layout and the revamped course reopened in 1970 to much acclaim.
