Course Introduction
Coffs Harbour Golf Club's 27-hole complex has all the hallmarks of a modern golf facility, so it's hard to imagine that it's a basic nine-hole course designed by three-time Australian Open champion Carnegie Clark in 1940.
Coffs Harbour is located close to the nearby Bonville International Course, which is 11.5 kilometres south of the Pacific Highway, but golfers visiting the area would be making a big mistake if they only played the top-ranked neighbouring courses in the country and missed out on Coffs Harbour.
The layout of the three 18-hole courses is as follows: ‘The Lakes’ consists of holes 1-9 and 10-18, ‘East Lakes’ consists of holes 10-18 and 19-27, ‘West Lakes’ consists of holes 19-27 and ‘West Lakes’ consists of holes 19-27. ‘ contains holes 19-27 and holes 1-9. All of the opening holes pose interesting questions for the start of the tournament, while the closing holes are equally challenging.
Highlights of the Lakeside Course include two par 3s on the front nine, at the 138 metre 3rd and 151 metre 6th holes, with both greens protected by small ponds to the left. The short par-4 16th on the back nine is even tougher, with close shots having to hit water to the right front of a green protected by a bunker.
