Course Introduction

Waratah Golf Club is the oldest golf club in Newcastle and the Lake Macquarie area. This 18-hole, par 71 course is 5,905 metres from the blue marker. The course is relatively flat, but easy and pleasant to walk. The course is designed to be challenging for golfers of all levels. The club has a friendly atmosphere both on and off the course and is a great place to meet new people and renew old friendships.

The club is located approximately 20 minutes south of Newcastle and only 10 minutes from the M1 motorway and Henge motorway. The Club is adjacent to the scenic Cockle Creek on the north-west shore of Lake Macquarie. It is less than 90 minutes drive north of Sydney.

The Club has long been a leader in the sport of golf in the region, as well as in New South Wales and Australia. The Club is steeped in history and is proud of its long tradition. The Club has been in existence for over 100 years. It was founded in 1901, initially in co-operation with a tennis club, and later became Newcastle's first golf club.
