Course Introduction
The club is situated on the shores of Lake Taupo, which lies in the heart of the volcanic Central Plateau. It is the starting point for access to Tongariro National Park and home to the Tongariro Alpine Trail, one of the world's top trails.
The club officially opened in 1931, initially using the 9-hole course as a competition golf course, which is now part of the club's second largest course, Tauhara. Due to the large number of visitors, the Tauhara course was expanded to 18 holes in 1954.
Tauhara offers a warm and friendly experience for golfers of all levels. The course's flat, pleasant terrain is an ideal starting point for those who want to explore the “bigger” courses.
As golfers travel through the fairways of Tauhala, they are greeted by breathtaking views of the Tauhala Mountains, which are always with them as they play. Close to the town of Taupo, the course is set in a mature parkland with high geothermal activity and views of the Tauhala Mountains.
