Course Introduction
Located just 30 minutes south of Chiang Mai, the Hari Punchai Golf Course is a 9-hole, par 36 championship course just 6 kilometres from the border of Lamphun Province. The course is surrounded by rolling hills and majestic mountain ranges, including Mount Suthep, Mount Inthanon and Mount Phutthabat.
The course was designed by renowned Japanese golf course architect Ryoichi Kato, who has designed many first-class courses such as Blue Canyon Country Club in Phuket. The well-manicured fairways and undulating greens are akin to a private members' club.
Each hole on the course is full of character, with water hazards coming into play on six of the nine holes. Two of the best holes include the sixth, a 460-yard par four, and the finishing hole, a par five over 650 yards. The former plays into the prevailing wind and features water hazards all along the right side of the fairway. The latter is a par 3 with a large tree in the centre of the fairway, requiring a precise shot to stop the ball far enough away to allow room for a second shot. The course features two tees per hole for golfers who want to play two rounds. Each tee is at a different angle and distance from the fairway, so different clubs are required to hit most greens.
