Course Introduction
Recognized as one of Victoria's top golf courses, Cranbourne Golf Club is located approximately 30 kilometers southeast of Melbourne's central business district. The course has been consistently ranked among Australia's Top 100 Golf Courses for several years. Cranbourne is often hailed as one of the best courses outside of Melbourne's sandbelt. More importantly, the sandy course has excellent drainage, making it playable year-round.
The par-3 12th hole, over 220 yards from the back marker, is a challenging uphill hole surrounded by sand. The club hosted the Victorian Open in 2000 and 2001. Adam Scott suffered a double bogey on this hole in the final round of the 2001 tournament, costing him the lead and, ultimately, the championship.
The short par-4s at 4, 7, 11, and 15 all appear to offer potential birdie opportunities, but bunkers surrounding each green can easily turn a good par-3 into a forgettable par-5, or worse.
