Course Introduction

Everything about the course is top-notch, without a doubt. Spanning 820 acres, the fairways are paved with Kentucky's finest bluegrass, while the rough is planted with fescue. The South and East Loops form an optimal layout, although Rainbow Hill's West Loop is equally impressive. Located at an elevation of approximately 2,200 feet, the East Loop is undulating and dramatically varied in terrain, exhibiting a distinctly mountainous character. The South Loop, on the other hand, is wider, longer, and much gentler.

The South Course's second hole is a distinctive 448-yard par-4. A multi-tiered water hazard, separated by stepped ponds, runs along the left side of the fairway, splitting the fairway into two. If you're adventurous enough to choose to drive directly over the water hazard to reach the second fairway, it requires approximately 220 yards; otherwise, you can choose the right fairway, but this will result in a longer uphill approach to the green. Most golfers will opt for the safer right fairway and finish the hole in three shots.

The third hole on the East Loop, a question mark-shaped par-4, might confuse you. It's one of the most beautiful holes on Rainbow Hill Course, and you'll have two options on your tee shot. The fairway lies nearly 200 feet below the tee, and the safe route is to hit around the right side of the question mark. A bolder tee shot targets the peninsula-shaped fairway, with water hazards on both sides. Hitting the headland on the fairway will allow for an easy wedge shot to the green. Choosing the roundabout route requires navigating the water hazard and a longer approach shot. It's a fantastic hole, not only thrilling to play but also offering breathtaking mountain views.
