Phuket golf course recommendations
Won the Best Course in Thailand in 2014, One of the Top 100 Courses in Asia in 2022, and the Most Beautiful Course in Phuket.
Red Mountain Golf Club Phuket is a spectacular course located in the heart of Phuket, Thailand. The course is 6,781 yards long and has a par of 72, which caters to golfers of all skill levels. It is known for its stunning landscape, challenging design and breathtaking views.
Red Mountain is a strategic course with numerous opportunities for risk and reward. It cleverly uses dramatic terrain and ups and downs to form a winding fairway against the backdrop of bright red rock cliffs, splashing dense jungle and spectacular viewpoints. It is an exciting golf trip.
Red Mountain Golf Course is built on rugged rocky terrain and has beautiful scenery, making it a real challenge. This par 72 course is extremely strategic and offers countless challenges for golfers of all levels. Designed by Jon Morrow and Al Tikkanen, the 6,781-yard course makes clever use of the spectacular topography and elevation changes left over from the tin mines. Playing from the championship tees is a challenge for even the best golfers, while playing from the 5,900-yard white tees is a more leisurely challenge.
Red Mountain Resort is built to the highest international standards and is meticulously maintained, with a strong focus on environmental protection. The design lets the topography speak for itself. Former mine pits were flooded, creating challenging water hazards, and the mountain was scraped away, exposing the native red clay on several holes. This is in stark contrast to the manicured fairways, white sand beaches and the blue skies that Phuket is famous for.
The first nine holes offer some memorable holes, none more so than the short par 3 3rd, where the scars of the land left by tin mining have been carefully preserved, forming a large expanse of eroded ridges and gullies formed by years of rain washing away tin tailings. The 8th tee drops down from high above to a large lake, requiring players to be careful and courageous in their club selection. The 9th tee offers a great opportunity to see the tin scar up close, as you walk back down the short par 4 with the clubhouse in the distance.
The second nine’s fairway twists and turns, surrounded by bright red rock cliffs, dense jungle and spectacular viewpoints. After climbing more than 100 meters from the 15th green, the 16th hole is the highest point of any Phuket golf course, and players should take time to enjoy the view of Phuket City from the spectacular viewpoint behind the green, with the famous Big Buddha in the distance. The 17th hole is a signature par 3 that takes players down a cliff face, through towering trees more than 40 meters high, to a lush valley carved out of bright red rock below.
Red Mountain Golf Course is just an hour’s drive from Phuket International Airport.
The best course in Phuket. A favourite with locals and golfers, this course is only 15 minutes from the city
At just 5,991 yards from the blue tees (par 71), Loch Palm Golf Club is known as the best course in Phuket. A favourite with locals and golfers, this course is known as the best course in Phuket. It is a favourite with locals and golfers as it offers a relaxed environment for golfers of all abilities, while also offering a variety of challenging hazards and greens.
It is not uncommon for golfers to finish a round in under 3 hours with an early morning or evening tee time. There is water on 10 holes, the fairways are lined with palm trees, and the fairways and greens use a variety of Zoysia turf, making them playable all year round, with a very smooth surface. With more than 1,000 palm trees lining the fairways and cool breezes blowing off Crystal Lake, the atmosphere is peaceful and tranquil despite the many obstacles and challenges on the greens.
Jon Morrow, the renowned designer behind Red Mountain Golf Club and Riverdale Golf Club, gave the course a major redesign and upgrade in late 2019. Water is present on 6 of the first 7 of the first 9 holes. The landing areas of the fairways are fairly spacious, but the compact layout requires you to keep your game under control as mis-hit shots are almost always punished by water.
The first 3 holes meander along the iconic Crystal Lake, which covers 48 acres. Crystal Lake was a quarry during the tin mining era and is the largest body of water in Phuket. There are also countless small lakes and palm-lined fairways that reflect the open water and loom over the entire course. Once you have made it through the first three holes with good scores, you will be presented with a short to medium iron par 3 that features an all over water fairway. The key to a good score at Palm Lake is accurate iron shots, and this hole is no exception. This is a par 3 that spans directly across a large lake, and is easy to play from the front tee, but much more difficult to play from the back tee. Hit it too far to the right and it will end up in the water, and if it is too long, it will be one of the most difficult chips on the course.
The back nine is a different test, through mountains and forested hills, with difficult shots downhill and large undulations. These 9 holes require accurate short iron shots to ensure a good score.
Three par 3 holes are key to a good score on this 9 hole, with the 15th being one of the truly amazing par 3 holes in Phuket. The hole is 161 yards from the back tees, and the green is 100 feet below the tee, so it plays much shorter. Wind and altitude play a big role in club selection, as the greens are undulating, surrounded by water and there is a long beach bunker in front. Take a moment to enjoy the panoramic views of Loch Palm Golf Club. This is when you will truly enjoy Phuket's most relaxing golf course.
The clubhouse at Loch Palm Golf Club has recently been modernised and features a restaurant, modern locker rooms and a fully stocked pro shop. Adjacent to the clubhouse balcony is a practice chipping and putting green and a water driving range. Sit outside and enjoy the extensive menu and refreshments overlooking the first fairway, Crystal Lake and the mountains beyond.
Blue Canyon Country Club-Lakes Course
Home to major golf tournaments, the largest course in Phuket, close to the airport
The Canyon Course at Blue Canyon Country Club is one of Thailand's premier championship courses, having hosted the Johnnie Walker Classic on the European Tour three times and many other international championships.
The first impression of the Blue Canyon Canyon Course is the beauty of the forest. The entire course is surrounded by beautiful forests, and if you tee off a little, you'll get tangled up in the trees. The fairway isn't very narrow, but it's still quite curvy. Also, holes that go over traps like valleys and streams work well, so there are a lot of challenging, daring shots to be made.
Particularly memorable holes are the par-5 9th hole that goes over the valley, the par-3 14th hole that goes downhill to an island green, and the final par-4 18th hole, where the second shot on the 9th hole is very difficult, going over the valley on the right, crossing the back in a gentle manner, and then finding a way into the valley on the right. The tee shot on the 14th hole is very downhill. I wouldn't call it a very difficult tee shot, but it's a very tight hole with a lot of scenery to take in. The final 18th hole is a scenic hole with a relatively easy tee shot, but a very challenging green. Most of Thailand's famous golf courses are in Bangkok and Pattaya, but Phuket's Blue Canyon Course is one of the best in Thailand.
In addition, the Lake Course is just as good as the Canyon Course. The Lake Course is designed to take advantage of the natural lake and canyon, and it is a very challenging course. Like the Canyon Course, the course is also well maintained and is a pleasant golf course. The Canyon Course can be played on foot, but the Lake Course requires the use of a golf cart. There are five different teeing areas here, suitable for golfers of different levels. A round starting from the Campion tee is a championship. The difficulty is quite high, but it is recommended for advanced golfers and golfers who want to test their skills!
Blue Canyon Country Club is located near the airport, about an hour's drive from the famous beaches and Phuket Town, the center of Phuket. It is only a few minutes’ drive from the airport, but it is located in a quiet forest with no houses, restaurants or anything else around. It is recommended that you choose a hotel near the popular beach. You can play golf on foot. This is a private golf course, but you can book directly with BaiGolf to get a discount plan~
The course belongs to Banyan Tree Hotel. The difficulty of the course is medium to difficult, mainly because the fairways are relatively narrow and there are many water obstacles. It has hosted the 2009 Thailand Open and is worth experiencing. The international 18-hole course in the Guna Club has the biggest feature that 5 of the first 9 holes of the course are blocked by ponds and must rely on accurate teeing techniques to break through; 5 of the last 9 holes also face the challenge of lakes.
Recognized as the best golf course on the island. Banyan Tree's seven hotels are located near the picturesque Bang Tao Beach. Laguna Phuket Golf Course is an environmentally friendly course, and its river also attracts many birds and wildlife. It is also a challenge to play a round on a course with a total fairway length of 6,600 yards. The golf course has world-class resort facilities, and more and more people come to play golf.
The special practice range and the 2,500 square meter wide fixed-shot green are a good place for golfers who love to keep improving and practice their skills. When swinging, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Andaman Sea and the freshness and pleasantness surrounded by green mountains.
Mission Hills Phuket Golf Resort
Mission Hills Golf Resort, located on the northeast coast of Phuket, opened in 2005 and is the newest seaside golf course in Phuket. The fairway length is 6,806 yards, which is 18 holes with a par of 72; there is also a 9-hole night course. The location is excellent, the airport is only a 10-minute drive away, and it can be arranged on the last day of the trip. Don't waste a second on the day of playing golf.
The golf course is surrounded by mangroves, with wide white sand beaches and blue sea in the distance. The fairway is wide, sandy by the sea, and the green is small. In addition, this golf course stipulates that golfers who play on this course can use golf carts throughout the entire game as needed, which is very considerate.

3. Thai people are very friendly, but they also pay attention to etiquette. After entering the club, please pay attention to your personal words and deeds. Remember not to make loud noises or behave rudely, otherwise you may be disqualified from playing golf by the club, and the paid golf fees will not be refunded.
4. Do not touch Thai people's heads at will, do not point at anything with your feet, and do not give coins as tips
