Why is Malaysia so popular?

Kuala Lumpur is a hassle-free travel destination. This bustling capital is not only a modern city, but also a treasure trove of natural beauty, with tropical rainforests and stunning beaches.

Kuala Lumpur is known as the “Melting Pot of Asian Culture”, where diverse ethnic groups coexist harmoniously, and historical relics and modern landscapes complement each other. It is also a paradise for food, with Malay, Indian and Chinese cuisines gathered here, allowing you to enjoy a feast for your taste buds.

Malaysian travel precautions

Best travel time: May to September is the dry season, with less rainfall, suitable for swinging, and it is also the best season for turtle watching on the east coast.

The weather is hot from March to October, and the islands are basically open, so Sabah is also a good choice for swinging. December to February of the following year is winter, but the average temperature is around 23 degrees, which is a very suitable tourist destination for avoiding the cold. December to January and June to September are the durian seasons in Malaysia, and durian lovers can choose this time to check in.

Currency: The currency in circulation is Ringgit Malaysia, also known as Ringgit, Malaysian currency, with the international standard code MYR and the official code RM. The smallest currency unit is Sen, 100 Sen = 1 Ringgit. The denominations of banknotes are: 100, 50, 20, 10, 5, 1 Ringgit; the denominations of coins are: 50, 20, 10, 5 Sen.

If you carry cash in and out of the country, you must declare USD 10,000 (or other equivalent currencies) or more when you enter and leave the country. There are many currency exchange points around the airport, train station, commercial district and tourist attractions in Kuala Lumpur. Generally, the exchange rates are ranked from bad to good: airport, central station, Golden Triangle, Petaling Street, Little India. Of course, local banks also support cash exchange. But in general, cash exchange is not as cost-effective as withdrawing money directly from ATMs. More than 90% of ATMs in Kuala Lumpur can use UnionPay cards to withdraw Ringgit, depending on whether the machine is posted or whether the UnionPay logo is displayed on the screen. Most banks to which the ATM belongs will charge a withdrawal fee. You need to check whether the issuing bank charges a fee, and the amount of the fee depends on the specific policy of the bank.

*If you book a travel package through BaiGolf, please contact BaiGolf customer service for the hotel reservation form, and please print a paper version to carry with you. Fill in the electronic arrival card (MDAC) within three days of the travel date or fill it out before arrival. Please fill it in in advance and print a paper version to carry with you.

Money preparation: Cash entry will be spot-checked frequently, so prepare about 550 USD before traveling. In Malaysia, UnionPay cardholders can not only withdraw cash from more than 90% of ATMs, but also pay at more than 60% of shopping malls and specialty stores. However, some merchants do not support UnionPay card payments, so it is best to prepare a Visa or MasterCard credit card. Credit cards are also convenient for booking hotels, train tickets, air tickets and some local activities. You can use your VISA credit card to pay in large shopping malls, but you need to activate the overseas payment function in advance.

Electronic equipment: power plug and voltage. The plug in Malaysia is a British standard three-pin square head. The capacity of the mobile power supply must not exceed 20000mAh, otherwise you will not be allowed to board the plane.

Network communication: Kuala Lumpur has a wide coverage of wifi. There are free wifi for tourists at airports, stations, hotels, restaurants, and even on some buses. Tourists who hope to have network available at any time can consider renting mobile wifi. One mobile wifi can be used by 5 people at the same time. It only needs to be charged once a day. The rental fee ranges from 2-5 US dollars/day, and the deposit is 70-140 US dollars.

Local phone cards: There are three major operators in Kuala Lumpur. Digi has the cheapest price, Celcom has the widest signal coverage, and Hotlink has the highest cost-effectiveness, which is suitable for tourists. These three phone cards can be purchased at airport stores, chain supermarkets, and street convenience stores. You can consult the specific package options on-site at the business outlets, or visit the operator's official website in advance.

Dial method: Malaysia's country code is 0060.

Local language: Malaysia's official language and daily language are both Malay. As a former British colony, the English penetration rate is also very high.

Hotel tourism tax: Malaysian hotels need to pay a tourism tax of 10 Malaysian ringgits/room/night. Hotels advocate environmental protection. Please try to bring your own toiletries. Most hotels have swimming pools, so you can bring swimsuits for swimming in the morning and evening.

Checked baggage for low-cost flights: If you purchase a low-cost flight in Malaysia, no checked baggage allowance is included. You need to purchase it separately. You can bring a suitcase within 20 inches and 5KG on board for free. You need to purchase sports equipment baggage allowance for golf bags (please do not purchase ordinary baggage allowance, which can be used to check in suitcases). Golf bags and sports equipment baggage allowance can be purchased in advance through the AirAsia official website.

Weather guide: Kuala Lumpur has a high temperature of 25-35 degrees throughout the year, so you can wear summer clothes. Because it is located in the tropics, the ultraviolet rays are strong, so you need to prepare sun protection equipment, such as hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc. In addition, the indoor air conditioning in airports and shopping malls is very sufficient, so it is recommended to carry a thin jacket with you.

Dress code for religious places: There are many religious places in Kuala Lumpur, especially mosques, which have strict dress code requirements. Women: Wear a headscarf, clothes that cover the shoulders, long pants (excluding tights and leggings) or long skirts (length below the knee). Men: Do not wear shorts or clothes that expose your shoulders. Tourists who plan to visit mosques, please pay attention to your dress code. Although most mosques will prepare robes for tourists, if you go there wearing too revealing clothes (such as vests and short shorts or skirts), you may still be turned away.

Travel safety: Safety is paramount when traveling in a group. Please do not leave the group alone. Do not participate in high-risk outdoor activities or enter entertainment venues alone. Children must be accompanied by adults throughout the tour. The whole process must be "in and out of the group".

Personal safety: The driver's seat in Malaysia is on the right. In addition, the driving speed is faster, so whether you are crossing the road or driving a vehicle, you must pay attention to safety. If you need to take a taxi or charter a car, be sure to choose a regular company. Do not go to remote areas after dark, and remember to lock the room in time after entering. Choose a restaurant with good hygiene conditions for dining. Single travelers, female travelers, and travelers traveling with children should not relax their vigilance.

Property safety: Keep personal belongings within sight, and place documents separately. It is best to prepare copies of documents in advance. In crowded tourist attractions, markets, buses and other places, use your hands to protect your bag or carry it in front of you. When playing golf, do not place your personal finances and wallets on the golf cart to prevent loss and theft (especially important). If you are accidentally robbed, contact the police immediately and go to the local consulate to apply for temporary documents if necessary.

Religious taboos: Islam is the state religion of Malaysia. When traveling in Kuala Lumpur, you need to know some basic Islamic knowledge and taboos: you need to take off your shoes when entering the mosque prayer hall, women should cover their hair with headscarves, and avoid wearing sleeveless, short skirts or transparent clothes, and men should avoid wearing vests and shorts. Do not disturb Muslims when they are praying, and do not stop to watch. Do not give alcohol or pork products to Muslims as gifts. When receiving or giving things to Muslims, be careful to use your right hand or both hands, and never use your left hand. Do not take pictures of Muslim women without their permission. Staring at the face of a Muslim woman is impolite.

Medical information:
