This course was built on the site of what was once the world's largest tin mine. The 1,000-acre integrated resort features 5 million square feet of indoor facilities, with the golf course at its heart. Robert Trent Jones II was commissioned to transform this previously undeveloped wasteland into a golf course. To improve the soil and enhance the course, the engineering team laid a sand layer along the fairways as a buffer against contaminated soil and constructed an extensive drainage system to handle monsoon rains. Transformed into a premier golf course, The Mines has garnered numerous awards, ranking among the world's top 100 golf courses, second in Malaysia, and among the top ten in Asia. In 1997, it hosted the World Golf Championship with Tiger Woods and has become a regular venue on the Asian Tour.

The course measures 6,191 meters in length and offers a relatively friendly layout. The undulating greens require precise chipping, but the wide fairways and multiple tee boxes provide ample opportunities for players of all skill levels. The chipping areas, clad in dense grass and sloping depressions, are prone to errors and offer excellent training grounds for improving short-game skills.

The first nine holes border pristine jungle, with occasional water hazards and deep greenside bunkers creating a unique landscape. Two holes, which cleverly utilize the natural terrain, are particularly impressive: the par-4 sixth, a downhill mid-range hole with a low-lying terrain along the entire left side; and the par-4 ninth, a par-4 tee shot with a knee-tremblingly steep downhill slope.
The highlight of the first half is the par-3 second, a stunningly beautiful hole. The view from the canyon, dotted with giant trees with exposed roots, is breathtaking.
The back nine, situated along the shores of the Mine Resort's massive lake, offers numerous demanding holes. Across the lake, a cluster of large buildings stand out, with the most striking being the luxurious Golden Horse Palace, visible from the 12th hole (par 4). Whether on the jungle side or the lakefront, the layout designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. remains impressive, his never-ending challenge in creating stunning scenes making it one of Malaysia's top courses.

Caddy service is generally one-on-one, but guests can request one-on-two service with advance notice. The course only has male caddies, not female ones. Caddies with good golf skills can request a caddy at no extra charge. A suggested tip is RM100.
Club Rental: Both left-handed and right-handed clubs are available for both men and women, priced at RM200 per set, payable in cash. Minimum number of people to book: 2 people in the morning on weekdays to accommodate members, 1 person can be booked to play in the afternoon, and 3 people are required to book on weekends.
BaiGolf Review:
It's a 20-minute drive from the city center. The clubhouse facilities are average and the environment is ordinary. Tiger Woods has played there twice. It's been listed in the Asia Top 100 and is expected to host the Korea PGA next year. The signature hole is hole 2, and the course is of moderate difficulty.
