The DaNang Dunes course is situated on the fledgling central coast of Vietnam
amid 150 hectares of dunescape similar to what the world’s first golf
courses were carved from. Its chief feature is a 7,160-yard, 18-hole,
links-style layout that was designed in the true spirit of the game —
blown-out bunkers, firm and fast fairways that bleed gently into wild
seaside vegetation, rugged waste areas, swales and hollows — by
Australian golf legend and former world No. 1 Greg Norman. It lies in
close proximity to two of Vietnam’s most historic destinations — UNESCO
World Heritage sites Hoi An and Hue — and offers breathtaking views of
the Marble Mountains, East Sea and Cham Islands.
This is the 18-hole course that will aim to meet the international
standards, with the top playability, in an area of 73.1 hectares. It is a
part of a 200-ha mega project, including areas for hotels, Vinpearl
villa, Vinpearl golf, entertainment area, and High-tech VinEco. Being
next to the sea, wind speed, yellow sunlight, direction, and smooth
green in the course should challenge the players in an exciting way.
What’s more, the views are scenic enough to please every eye.
The golf course features two distinct nines with a relationship of water
to playing areas providing variety and balance. The front nine is
somewhat more traditional forest/parkland in style, while the back nine
winds its way through the twists and turns of the surrounding hillside.
There are several unique course characteristic with the bunkering style
impressively bold with grass rolled over the faces leaving the sand
partly visible from the tees while the green complexes feature subtle
undulations and encourage a variety of approach shots to create a unique
and distinctive golf venue.
